About the Lighting Designer/Director Role
An L1 Lighting Designer/Director designs, programs, and operates the lighting for live events. They create the visual atmosphere through color, movement, and intensity — programming cues on a lighting console and running them live during the show. On corporate events, the L1 handles stage washes, presenter key lights, and audience lighting.
